Inbound Charges Data Interfaces
The Fusion v6.0 Billing Data Concentrator (BDC) accepts charges and demographics data through HL7 interfaces. The interfaces are based on flat files or TCP Socket data streams containing data using HL7 specifications compliant with the Rhodes' BDC, as specified by Rhodes. Most clients use flat file interfaces.
The primary data input to Fusion is charge messages; messages sent by LIS or other systems to initiate the billing process for a particular set of tests and services. Fusion consumes these messages and works with the eMPI and central patient database to determine which patient is represented in each message. Fusion then stores this information for future processing. Understanding which patient is represented in each message allows Fusion to group charges by patient and to access additional useful information known about the patient that was not present in the original charge message.
Rhodes has implemented interfaces, as necessary, to your LIS and Pathology systems, utilizing existing interface formats.
